Corrections Policy

HeadlinesMagazine.com is committed to accuracy and transparency. When we make an error, we correct it promptly and visibly. This policy outlines how errors are identified, verified, and corrected.

1. Types of Corrections

• Correction: A factual error that changes the meaning or accuracy of a statement. Corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with the date and a description of the error and the fix.
• Clarification: A statement that was technically accurate but ambiguous or misleading. Clarifications are noted at the bottom of the article with the date and the clarified text.
• Update: New information that adds to but does not contradict the original reporting. Updates are noted inline or at the bottom with the date.
• Retraction: An article that contained fundamental errors rendering the reporting unreliable. Retracted articles remain online with a "RETRACTED" label and a full explanation of why the retraction was issued.

2. How Errors Are Identified

• Internal review: The editorial review process checks published briefings for accuracy when they are revisited.
• Reader reports: Readers can raise errors through the public project channels listed on the Masthead & Disclosure page. The project does not currently promise a response-time SLA.
• Source feedback: Sources quoted in articles may request corrections if their statements were misrepresented.

3. Correction Process

1. The error is reported for editorial review.
2. The reviewer verifies the error against primary sources.
3. If confirmed, the article is updated and a correction note is appended.
4. The correction note includes: the date, the nature of the error, and the corrected information.
5. The responsible editorial reviewer records the correction.

4. Transparency

Correction notes are visible to all readers. We do not silently edit articles to remove errors. The original error and the correction are both documented so readers can see what changed and why.

5. Timeline

Corrections are handled as soon as practicable after identification. Significant factual errors, misidentification, or legal implications receive priority when the publication is actively maintained.

6. Log of Corrections

Corrections are recorded on the affected page and in the public log below. Each entry identifies the article, the change, the reason, and the date of correction.
