Independent Human Rights & Legal Intelligence
Last updated: August 11, 2026
HeadlinesMagazine.com is an independent source-led publication covering human rights, civil liberties, LGBTQIA+ rights, international law, and social justice. We use the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics and are committed to transparency, accuracy, and editorial independence.
Our mission is to publish clear, source-led legal briefings and, when capacity permits, original reporting on human rights, civil liberties, and social justice. We prioritize court records, legislation, official statements, and other primary-source documentation over unsupported summaries or rewritten press releases. The current site is a small publication in development; it makes no unsupported claim about a percentage of original reporting.
The current static site does not publish advertising, sponsored content, or paid placements. If those services are introduced, they must be clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial decisions. Funding and ownership disclosures belong on the Masthead & Disclosure page.
We require all claims of fact to be sourced. We prioritize primary sources — court documents, legislation, official statements, and on-the-record interviews — over secondary reporting. When we cite other media outlets, we attribute clearly and link to the original source. Anonymous sources are used only when the information cannot be obtained on the record and the source faces genuine risk; such use requires documented editorial review before publication.
When original reporting is published, it must be clearly distinguished from legal background and institutional material. It should identify the consenting author, relevant disclosures, and supporting records. The current masthead explains why personal bylines are not yet used on every briefing.
Contributors and anyone involved in editorial review must disclose financial, personal, or political interests that could create a conflict with their work. People involved in editorial decisions must not cover organizations or issues in which they have a direct, undisclosed financial interest.
HeadlinesMagazine.com uses AI tools for research assistance, transcription, and data analysis, but all editorial content is written, reviewed, and approved by human journalists. No article is published without human authorship and editorial oversight. We do not publish AI-generated articles presented as human-written journalism.
We correct errors promptly and transparently. Our Corrections Policy details how errors are identified, verified, and corrected. All corrections are noted on the article page with the date and nature of the correction.
We are committed to a newsroom that reflects the communities we cover. Our Diversity Policy outlines our recruitment, retention, and coverage commitments.
